The Events & Meetings Specialist is a deliberative individual responsible for supporting all aspects of event preparation and implementation. NAW s events are designed for our members focusing on bringing distributors together for conversation and to discover problem-solving solutions to continue improve the industry. NAW is an established trade association that has begun an exciting new phase of growth, discovering education, innovation, and collaboration in the world of distribution. We are building a dynamic events team to plan and execute our growing events schedule.

The ideal candidate is ready to tackle new challenges, highly detail-oriented, thrives in a collaborative work environment, and is comfortable interfacing with high profile business executives.

Essential Job Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, each responsibility must be performed satisfactorily. Other responsibilities may be assigned to meet business needs.

  • Plan and organize assigned activities for in-person events to include Board, Conferences, Summits, Roundtables, Salon Dinners, and other one-off events throughout the calendar year
  • Manage and provide direction to event vendors within budget targets (i.e. food & beverage, venue, printed materials, attendees, photographer, etc.)
  • Collaborate and coordinate with the NAW Corporate Relations team to ensure attendee experience is unique, sponsors are receiving all contracted obligations at each event, and registration numbers continue to increase
  • Aid in the management of event registration and event campaigns in Salesforce, NAW s CRM platform
  • Assist Senior Director of Meetings and Events with additional event preparation work
  • Support Senior Director of Events running in-person events in cities across the United States

Work Environment: The position is located at our headquarters in Washington, D.C., near Metro Center. Currently, we are operating a hybrid work model where employees are in the office Tuesday-Thursday, which is a standard office environment, and are given an option to work remotely most Mondays and Fridays.

Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to follow schedules and prioritize to meet tight deadlines while managing multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Strong interpersonal skills, exhibits a positive attitude and a professional demeanor
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Exceptional customer service skills, a focused listener, and a problem solver
  • Ability to work with creativity and flexibility in a fast-paced, high pressure environment
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Exhibits a high degree of personal initiative

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor s degree, required
  • 2-3 years of work experience in event planning, desirable
  • Knowledge of the wholesale distribution and/or association industry, desirable

Other Requirements:

  • A creative approach to event preparation and developing innovative events
  • Experience interacting with senior level executives, desirable
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, SalesForce CRM, desirable
  • Ability to travel on average once per month, usually for 2-3 days, required
