Job Details

Description: To manage an office and support a three person professional team consisting of the CEO, VP Government Relations and VP of Science and Innovation, along with a 50 member Board of Directors.

This position is in a small, progressive and very professional organization, with strong support by its grower membership. The applicant will be replacing our retiring Director who has successfully served the association for 20 years.

The position requires excellent people and communication skills and will primarily manage the physical office, association and political action finances, human resources, meeting planning and execution, and technology acquisition and support. Excellent organizational skills are essential to manage a variety of areas of the association and collaborate and support the association s professional staff. Reliability, and attention to detail are very important for success in this position. This is a tremendous opportunity to maximize and expand one s talents and skills.

People Skills: Personality and demeanor are essential in this role. Employees are upbeat, supportive, kind, fair, transparent, patient and persistent. Customers are our fellow employees, ASGA Directors across 11 states, other sugar industry organizations, government officials, vendors, hotels, sponsors, etc.

Office Management: Highly organized and detail oriented. Understanding all key elements of the various responsibilities and to collaborate and communicate with staff. A team player is essential. Anticipates future needs and seeks opportunities in all aspects of responsibilities. Reliability and punctuality are important.

Financial and Human Resources: Manage all Association financials such as budgets, income/expense reports, tax filings, retirement programs, filing of mandatory lobbying and Federal Election Commission reports. This will also include all human resources products such as health insurance and other elements of the benefit package.

Meetings: Lead the selection of destinations and hotels for three, 50 person board meetings per year. Annual meeting general sessions attract 300 plus a 40 person golf tournament. Execute the meetings with room reservations, food and beverage and audio-visual needs.

Technology: Technically proficient with Microsoft Office programs, Quickbooks, Cvent Event Management software, managing Zoom and Microsoft Teams video conferencing, acquisition of electronics, security and maintenance of electronic devices and printers, IT support and website management.

Travel: Three out of DC board meetings, hotel site visits, plus a pre-conference meeting for our annual meeting.

Preferred Qualifications: Minimum of five years of office management experience.
