415 Walnut Collective VISTA, Seed Co

The 415 Walnut Collective is a grassroots coalition of local stakeholders and community members serving as ambassadors for the preservation, renovation, and reimagining of the Faith Temple Baptist Church building (also known as the Walnut St. Baptist Church) located at 415 Walnut St., Waterloo, IA. The collective is committed to reimagining a use for this building that promotes community health and wellbeing. Our mission is to create a space for literacy and wellbeing through the development of a community learning hub in the Walnut St. Church building, and to promote a thriving and healthy Walnut neighborhood community. The VISTA will coordinate volunteer outreach, connect stakeholders, and drive community engagement in the 415 Walnut Collective mission. This includes administration, event planning, and development of pilot projects that further the mission of the 415 Walnut Collective. Additionally, the VISTA will promote project sustainability through development of a two-year strategy that promotes project sustainability through community partnerships. This project is part of the Community Corps VISTA Program operated by Seed Coalition (formerly Iowa & Minnesota Campus Compact). The program strives to eliminate poverty through campus-community partnerships by placing full-time capacity building support in nonprofit organizations and higher education institutions. Member Duties : The VISTA member will be coordinating systems, policies, and procedures for ongoing project development. Organizing strategic tasks teams/coalitions/partnerships. Gather data to support fundraising and grant proposals, coordinate grant systems, and utilize creative content and designs. They will coordinate volunteers, site visits/building tours, community events, and establish and implement protocol for communications with partners. Additionally, the VISTA will track activity success rates through participation and attendance records, participants/user satisfaction surveys, media coverage, funds raised and goals met. This information will be utilized to populate online platforms with relevant information for community partners. Make a proposal for stable funding and volunteer support. Develop a two year strategy for project sustainability.
