The National Black MBA Association is seeking a Program Manager, HBCU and Student Initiatives to manage our programs focused on supporting student members of the National Black MBA Association. The incumbent will establish and maintain mutually beneficial relationships between colleges and universities and the Association to increase awareness of the Association and its programs and facilitate access to graduate and business education programs and scholarships for members.

The mission of the National Black MBA Association is to lead in the creation of educational, wealth building, and growth opportunities for those historically underrepresented throughout their careers as students, entrepreneurs and professionals.

Essential Duties:

Design & Develop Programming (20%)

  • Develop and manage programs and initiatives to address the learning needs of student members (high school, undergraduate, and graduate).
  • Lead the development and dissemination of curriculum, resources, communication and marketing tools for Leadership Development, Career Advancement, & Financial Mastery.
  • Facilitate train-the-trainers with national chapter members and program advisors.
  • Serve as the Conference Manager for the youth National Leadership Summit which includes developing the schedule of events, managing logistics, sourcing speakers, developing promotional materials, conducting site visits, and planning meetings.
  • Manage the services of contractors retained to support planning and execution of programming.

Relationship Management (30%)

  • Develop methods of increasing the Association s presence on campuses through partnership/collaboration with university administration (placement offices, faculty) and student organizations.
  • Liaise with local chapters to identify opportunities to engage with students and increase membership.
  • Establish agreements with partner schools to confirm roles and commitments.
  • Engage with college administration to encourage student participation and solicit volunteers for annual case competitions.
  • Work cross-functionally to communicate scholarship program benefits to current and potential corporate sponsors.

Scholarships, Data, Grant, & Financial Management (10%)

  • Manage scholarship and grant application selection process including promoting ~$2M in scholarship award opportunities across ~200 students, selecting and notifying applicants, and developing creative briefs to promote awardees.
  • Pull monthly scholarship reports and distribute them to collegiate partners.
  • Identify discounts and incentives to increase student participation.
  • Develop, collect, and maintain program impact and effectiveness data.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree from a four (4) year college or university; MBA preferred.
  • Five or more years of related experience in professional development/education program creation and management.
  • A professional and resourceful style; the ability to work independently and as a team player, to take initiative, and to manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Excellent computer skills including experience working with Microsoft Office, databases and multimedia communication.
  • Commitment to the mission and work of the NBMBAA with the credibility and persuasiveness to convince others to support the organization.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Supports the mission, vision, and strategic goals of the Association to serve both internal and external customers.
  • Conducts self in a professional manner; maintains appropriate professional appearance.
  • An effective communicator, with strong oral, written, and presentation skills.
  • Must ensure confidentiality and sensitivity of the information.
  • Must be a team player and self-starter with a positive attitude.
  • Must be extremely detail-oriented, precise, organized, and able to work independently.
  • Ability to engage in cross-functional operations and activities with all organizational departments.
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively on large-scale projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with and gain the respect and support of varied and changing constituencies.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook), internet savvy, database management, and data entry.

  • Actively seeks to learn the history and supports the mission of NBMBAA.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of special events.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Some evening and weekend work may be required
