USDA Agricultural Research Service is currently recruiting for a Soil Scientist/Agronomist/Agricultural Engineer at in Beltsville, Maryland.

Duties:
Leads data collection and data management to develop cropping system models.
Analyzes and visualizes the collected data.
Processes and quality controls the data to ingest to the cropping system models.
Supports improvement and evaluation of the new or existing crop and soil models for identifying and disentangling effects of genetics (G), environment (E), and management (M) components from long-term field plots.
Sets up simulation model experiments with appropriate inputs, utilizing available software tools to pre-/post-process data for modeling, and programming, for preliminary interpretation of the simulation results.
Assists in preparing and/or presenting technical reports, progress reports, and scientific journal publications.

Experience:

Based on grade level, one year of specialized experience which is directly related to the work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicants with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience applying cropping system models; analyzing existing agroecosystem data from laboratory, plot, field, and publicly available sources; and assisting in preparing or presenting technical reports, progress reports, and scientific journal publications.
OR
Education:

Based on grade level, successful completion of two (2) years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or master's equivalent graduate degree, if directly related. Related degrees may include Soil Science, Agronomy, Agricultural Engineering, and Natural Resource Conservation.
OR
A combination

of education and experience as described above.
