Job Description **Job Summary:**

This position completes various standard purchasing and material control responsibilities. Prepares purchase orders, purchases materials, processes material transfers, requests RMAs and repairs, researches and resolves material control problems, and posts various information into Inventory Module of accounting software. Primary backup for purchasing manager when out.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:**

* Accepts deliveries and stages material in warehouse.

* Prepares shipping labels for all ship outs.

* Maintains stock levels of inventory.

* Processes material transfers physically and in the system.

* Conducts cycle counts on warehouse and coordinates vehicles for inventory with managers.

* Processes and tracks return and repair materials as necessary.

* Assists in the development of department policies and procedures.

* Accepts and scrutinizes vendor bids or proposals. Selects sources based upon analysis.

* Assists the department in arranging vendor contracts, bargaining for best costs and observes quality of purchased materials.

* Works with vendors to expedite deliveries.

* Maintains integrity of Vista software and/or other company software information, as required in purchase and inventory modules.

* Keeps receiving bay and back parking lot clean and monitors warehouse cleanliness.

* Handles facility issues as they arrive.

* Primary point of contact for Purchasing Manager when out: assist accounting with invoices issues, place orders for jobs, service and sprinkler.

* Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Skills Requirements:

* Thorough knowledge of purchasing, inventory, and materials management procedures is required, plus a familiarity with standard concepts, practices and procedures within the field.

* Managerial skills and proven supervisory experience is preferred.

* Must have a positive and respectful attitude and maintain good working relationships with management staff and employees.

* Must be resourceful to problem solve and navigate the task(s) at hand.

* Strong interpersonal communication skills.

* Willing to take the initiative on tasks and seek new opportunities for projects.

* Must be able to work in a high volume/fast paced environment and handle multiple tasks. Must demonstrate flexible and efficient time management and the ability to prioritize workload.

Education and Preferred Experience:

* Minimum of Associates of Arts degree in Business or other Manufacturing related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience. Successful candidate will have a minimum two (2) years related work experience in Materials Management; demonstrated analytical and problem-solving capabilities; strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to work well with all other departments.

* General knowledge of purchasing, inventory, and materials management procedures is desired.

* Proficiency in MS Office.

* Ability to create and maintain spreadsheets in Excel.

* Inventory management software experience preferably Viewpoint by Vista.

* Demonstrates analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
