Production Manager Reports directly to: Director of OperationsRESIDENT PRODUCTION MANAGERThe Production Manager at the Duke Ellington School of the Arts is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of production and technical operations within the school's performing arts departments and in-school events (assemblies and the like). This role involves managing the logistics and execution of various performances, including plays, musicals, dance concerts, and other showcases/exhibitions. The Production Manager collaborates closely with faculty, staff, and students to ensure the successful realization of artistic visions while maintaining a safe and efficient working environment. The Production Manager will advise and assist with Collaborative Projects (if applicable).Key Responsibilities:Production Planning and Coordination: Collaborate with directors, choreographers, music directors, technical directors and other artistic staff to plan and coordinate production schedules, rehearsals, and performances. Assist in the selection and procurement of production resources, including sets, props, costumes, lighting, sound equipment, and other necessary supplies. Create and manage production budgets, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and adherence to financial constraints.Technical Operations Management: Oversee all technical aspects of productions, including lighting, audio/sound, scenic, video, projections, stage management, and backstage operations. Coordinate with technical staff to ensure that there is adequate supervision for all student technical crews, parent volunteers and hired professionals, fostering the smooth running of rehearsals and performances.Production Logistics and Communication: Coordinate production logistics, such as scheduling rehearsals, securing performance venues, arranging transportation for any off-site events, and coordinating with external vendors or partners. Serve as a central point of contact for all production-related communications, liaising with faculty, staff, students, parents, and external stakeholders. Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between artistic staff, technical crews, and performers to ensure a cohesive and successful production.Safety and Risk Management (in conjunction with all Technical Design & Production department staff): Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures to ensure the well-being of students, staff, and audiences during rehearsals and performances. Identify potential risks and hazards associated with productions and take appropriate measures to mitigate them. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, fire codes, and other relevant guidelines.Production Documentation and Evaluation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of production-related activities, including budgets, schedules, technical specifications, and performance archives. Evaluate the success of productions, identifying areas for improvement and implementing adjustments for future projects.
