POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Development & Communications is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all of The Boys & Girls Club of East Providence s marketing and fundraising including the major gifts program, annual fund, planned giving, special events and capital fundraising as required. The Director of Development & Communications works closely with the Chief Executive Officer in all development, marketing, and fund-raising endeavors.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Meet prospective donors and supporters on a continual basis to establish effective communications.
  • Grow a major gifts program including identification, cultivation, and solicitation of major donors.
  • Build the planned giving program with a focus on deferred gifts such as bequest expectancies.
  • Direct capital campaigns, annual fund program, and other fundraising drives, including mailings.
  • Make public appearances/accept speaking engagements to share info about the organization with the community.
  • Oversee fundraising database and tracking systems. Maintain gift recognition programs.
  • Oversee creation of publications to support fund raising activities.
  • Identify, recruit and train board members to participate in solicitation and other income development activities.
  • Oversee and support board committees responsible for planning and implementing development activities.
  • Assist with grant seeking, including research, proposal writing, and reporting requirements
  • Participate in the development, implementation and monitoring of the Club s annual budget, controlling. expenditures within budget, and maintaining donor and financial records in accordance with standards.
  • Researches and analyzes agency, corporate, individual and foundation donor base and recommended solicitation strategies.
  • Oversees and evaluates marketing/communication activities and identifies opportunities to improve results.
  • Ensures the visibility of club activities and maintains positive public relations.
  • Oversees the design, development and distribution of all marketing collateral used to promote the organization and fund-raising activities; maintain brand compliance.
  • Works with other departments to obtain outcome data required to support fundraising efforts and satisfy funders.
  • Oversees the development and implementation of a strategic communications plan.
  • Perform other related duties as requested.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and writing skills.
  • Have knowledge and experience in fund raising techniques, particularly major gift fundraising.
  • Possess the skills to work with and motivate staff, board members and other volunteers.
  • Be a self-starter and goal driven to initiate donor visits and fundraising calls.
  • Display a positive attitude, show concern for people and community, demonstrate presence, self-confidence, common sense, and good listening ability.
  • Bachelor s degree
  • 5-7 years minimum experience in professional fundraising.

This is a full-time position that may require evening and weekend hours.


Salary: $90,000 - $105,000.00 per year

  • Bachelor's (Required), Masters (Preferred)


Experience:

  • Fundraising: 5 years (Required)
