**Position Function:**

Assist with the verification of receipt of incoming shipments received at the receiving station and subsequent delivery to university departments; maintain corresponding written records; perform administrative duties in support of these functions.

**Salary Grade** : 08

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:**

1. Unload incoming freight.

2. Sort freight by delivery zone destination.

3. Coordinate delivery schedules with delivery crewmembers.

4. Assist with loading freight onto delivery vehicles.

5. Ensure that warehouse and dock are free of debris and clutter.

6. Maintain organization within the warehouse for incoming freight and outgoing deliveries.

7. Coordinate pickup of surplus/excess items based on receipt of MSU Disposal Form from departments.

8. Verify surplus items received against items listed on the MSU Property Disposal Form.

9. Maintain designated area for receipt, sorting, storing, and palletizing surplus equipment.

10. Determine desired method of disposition (reutilization, sale, recycle, etc.).

11. Appropriately prepare university surplus/disposal items.

12. Coordinate the loading activities of disposed equipment.

13. Maintain and safeguard items within the warehouse.

14. As needed, drive university vehicle to deliver freight to departments.

15. Perform related duties as assigned.

**Minimum Qualifications:**

1. High School diploma or equivalent.

2. One year related experience to duties specified.

3. Valid Drivers License.

Any equivalent combination of related experience and/or education approved by the Department of Human Resources Management.

**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:**

Knowledge of receiving and/or warehouse procedures. Ability to follow detailed instructions. Knowledge of basic computer skills.

**Working Conditions and Physical Effort**

Regularly involves lifting, bending or other physical exertion. Often exposed to one or more elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, etc.

Routine deadlines; usually sufficient lead time; variance in work volume seasonal and predictable; priorities can be anticipated; some interruptions are present; travel or other inconveniences have advance notice; involves occasional exposure to demands and pressures from persons other than immediate supervisor.

Job frequently requires standing, walking, reaching, climbing or balancing, talking, hearing, handling objects with hands, and lifting up to 50 pounds.

Job occasionally requires sitting, stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling, and lifting more than 100 pounds.
