Director, Production Technology

Position Summary:

The Production Technical Director supports the mission of Grace Fellowship Church (GFC) by overseeing and coordinating all technical related operations in regard to audio, lighting, and video. The Production Technical Director ensures that services and events across all facilities and ministries utilize technology efficiently, effectively, and strategically in order to enhance the experience of those attending.

Primary Position Responsibilities:

  • Oversees, directs and implements the audio-visual technology needs of weekend services and the entirety of the church as a part of central services
  • Provides technical support for worship services and events by maintaining a reliable system including but not limited to:
    • Audio mixing, monitor mixing, and audio recording
    • Lighting production
    • Video production including switching to multiple cameras
    • Video recording and live streaming production
    • Projection including ProPresenter presentations
  • Recruits, trains, equips, schedules, and leads audio visual staff and volunteers on assignments
  • Updates and maintains production technologies including global technology throughout the building and future campus use
  • Maintains yearly budget and oversees all tech production ministry planning.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Advanced knowledge of audio systems and large format consoles (knowledge of Allen and Heath A3500, preferred)
  • Advanced knowledge of lighting in the context of worship services (Vista 3,
  • preferred)
  • Advanced knowledge of media in the context of worship services, including live and streaming video environments such as video switcher with multiple cameras (IMAG) and presentation software (ProPresenter)
  • Highly tech savvy and able to learn and master new technology quickly and thoroughly
  • Possess a teachable spirit and collaborates well in a team environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to inspire and motivate a team of volunteers and staff
  • Strong organizational abilities, attention to detail, and time management skills
  • Desire and ability to encourage greater unity and interaction amongst people from multi-cultural, ethnic, and economic backgrounds
Education/Experience
  • Formal training in Production or related discipline
  • Experience in a Production Technical Director role at a church with 1000+ weekly attendance, preferred
  • Broad hands-on experience with technology in a modern worship production environment

Working Hours and Conditions:

Business Hours/Exceptions

This position is full time and includes some evenings and every Sunday.

There are currently three "all hands" events per year, Christmas, Easter, and Fall Launch where extra hours are required.

Working Environment

Most work is done on-site, although some work may be done remotely. This position requires frequent standing, walking, reaching and the ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.

Travel Requirements and Expectations

Occasional offsite staff meetings and periodic travel for training and enrichment may be required.

Salary

Commensurate with experience and capability. To be discussed in hiring process.
