Definition of the position:
A Wireless Service Technician works with clients in installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting various parts of a wireless network and some wired-related elements in a skilled and professional manner. The Technician will provide these services and will keep track of all time and material for proper billing and cost accounting. Common devices and items that will be worked on include (but are not limited to):
Network Hardware/Software
Basic wireless router installation and provisioning
Wifi access point programming/ installation
Telco voice/data configuration
Telco voice/data installations
VOIP Implementation
Configuration and program of Wireless Point to Point & point to multipoint radio
Installation of wireless radio configured to the strongest the signal at customer premises
Configure and install equipment at tower locations
Working at heights of up to 300ft
Install wireless access points on communication towers while maintaining 100% tie-off
Installation of wireless equipment on structural and nonstructural sites
Maintain company vehicle stocked with proper equipment for installs
PC Support
Anything else delegated from Management
Essential Functions and Responsibilities to the position:
Evaluate client systems and recommend upgrades or refer them to a sales representative
Perform in-house, on-site, and remote network devices
Service various wireless networks
Install and Test various network devices
Install and Support wireless equipment
Complete and Document wireless configuration of the installation
Document Clients Networks for office records
Qualifications required for the position:
Comtrain Certification preferred
Previous communication tower rigging and related work preferred
Basic Telco and wireless installations a plus
4+ years of experience as a technician or related work experience.
4+ years of climbing experience preferred
Work Environment:
Office Work, Field Work, The majority of work is outdoors
Additional Responsibilities:
Regional Travel is required as well as occasional after-hours, overtime, and out-of-town work.
Must have a clean driving record and be able to pass a drug screening
Personal Characteristics:
Strong Communication abilities
Excellent understanding of current hardware devices Operating systems and software.
Individuals must have good mechanical skills and physically be able to maneuver in and out of any type of equipment, work on ladders, or at elevated heights as well as move or carry heavy loads.
The majority of work is outdoors so the right candidate must be comfortable working in inclement weather, climbing/working off ladders and roofs, and will have experience with hand tools.
