This is NOT a role for candidates who's experience is daily execution of purchasing tasks, cutting PO's, and heavy on administrative items.

This manages a set function of supporting Purchasing/Supply Chain for 400 stores across Canada. Must be analytical, able to negotiate deal/terms, excellent communicator and must be polished as to present well to senior leadership. Strong focus on managing supply and supplier base for all stores in Canada at best cost. They will work close with key suppliers and big responsibility at managing those relationships.


The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for ensuring a continuous supply of assigned food and packaging products at the best cost and support the promotion planning, inventory management and distribution for all assigned Restaurants in Canada.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


Purchasing Principal accountabilities include negotiating with suppliers for each assigned product which includes the development of the best landed product cost at each assigned distribution center; reviewing, evaluating, and recommending suppliers in order to manage the best overall supply base for assigned restaurants in Canada.



Manage relationships with assigned suppliers and distribution centers.

Provide a continuous supply of competitively priced products on a regular and timely basis.

Develop and implement objectives for assigned product categories including preparation and

presentation of purchasing strategies to support the negotiation of recommendations for supply

agreements.


Negotiate with suppliers for each assigned product category.

Finalize and enter assigned product pricing into system.

Review distribution methods and logistics costs for assigned products to ensure optimal freight costs

to the distribution center(s).

Negotiate, recommend and draft commercial terms of agreement

Monitor cost variance report to identify opportunities as it relates to costing differentials between the U.S. and Canada.

Monitor key commodity item pricing and report to stakeholders as needed.

Establish and monitor vendor capacity/distribution capabilities to ensure that all quality, cost and service expectations are met.

Conduct regular performance, business and financial reviews of existing and potential suppliers.

Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual forecast for all assigned products.

Promotions Planning & Inventory Management

Active participation with Promotions Planning & Distribution Manager and assigned RBI Brand Teams marketing, innovation, and quality assurance teams to facilitate the introduction of new products and support of promotional activity for the assigned RBI Brands.


Continuous follow up with Brand QA team to ensure products are approved within required timeline.

Communicate marketing activities to appropriate suppliers on a timely basis.

Provide assistance as needed to the Promotions Planning & Distribution Manager to manage inventory levels and ensure timely distribution of new product rollouts and/or successful depletion of existing products through the creation and execution of project timelines, supplier production plans

and distributor purchasing and inventory management/depletion plans.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

A four year degree and/or at least five to eight years of direct and relevant work experience or a combination of both is required. Master s degree is a plus.
