Our community is a tight knit group of remarkable individuals interested in intellectual inquiry and making a difference in the world.RequirementsOutreach Coordinator, ISMSIM & STIA - Georgetown UniversityJob OverviewThe Outreach Coordinator works with the Directors of the Institute for Soft Matter Synthesis and Metrology (ISIM) ( and the Science, Technology and International Affairs (STIA) Program ( to develop and implement outreach, communications and fundraising plans for ISMSM and STIA in partnership with communications staff in the School of Foreign Service and the College of Arts and Sciences, and the Office of Institutional Partnerships ( at Georgetown.Job tasks include meeting regularly with ISMSM and STIA directors and program staff as well as individual faculty to develop content for outreach that promotes both programs original research and programming, and meeting with relevant stakeholders for targeted outreach and fundraising.Work InteractionsThe Outreach Coordinator reports jointly to the Directors of ISMSM and STIA (51% ISMSM-49 STIA%). The position is housed in ISMSM for administrative purposes, but the Directors of both programs share responsibility for all job-related approvals and performance reviews.Requirements and QualificationsBachelor s degree in a scientific field or in science policy preference for a Master s degree in a relevant field2 to 4 years of experience in communications and/or fundraising or donor relationsAbility to communicate complicated scientific concepts to a general audienceOutstanding writing, editing, and social skillsExcellent customer service and relationship-building skills (internal and external)A professional attitude in representing ISMSM and STIA to different audiencesExcellent organization skillsAbility to interface regularly with colleagues, foundation, corporate, and other partners, including high-profile individualsPreferred qualificationsFamiliarity with the science policy landscape in the Washington, DC areaAbility to manage multiple tasks and goals, prioritize among assignments, and problem-solve; and to persist toward meeting goalsTermThis is a 1-year term position, subject to potential renewal based on funding and performance.Work Mode: Hybrid Please note that work mode designations are regularly reviewed in order to meet the evolving needs of the University.
