Specifically, the Director will directly oversee the schools robust externship program, which involves liaising with current and potential field placement sites and supervisors, coordinating placements for students, applying and creating policies to ensure a productive and educational experience for externship students, and teaching the instructional portion of our Externship course. The Director of Experiential Learning also oversees our current clinical offerings and has latitude to develop new clinical offerings that comport with the mission of the Law School. The Director works with Law School administration and faculty to apply and, as needed, revise our Experiential Learning curricular policies and ensure appropriate and robust experiential curricular offerings in the Law School, which will allow students to gain hands-on learning experiences in the practice of law, as well as to ensure compliance with relevant ABA Standards. The Director also teaches up to two additional law school courses each year.Job Description: This is a non-tenure-track faculty appointment with a presumptively renewable twelve-month contract. Because the Director will coordinate LMU Laws Externship program each summer, he or she is eligible to receive course release in the fall or spring semester every other year. The position includes future eligibility to apply for a long-term contract and governance rights as to all matters except hiring and promotion of tenured and tenure-track faculty. The Director will work closely with the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs to ensure the Law Schools compliance with all ABA Standards and Law School policies and procedures regarding experiential learning.Required Qualifications*Juris Doctor; *currently a member of a court of last resort of a state, a U.S. Territory or the District of Columbia and either is licensed in Tennessee or qualified to become licensed in Tennessee under Tenn. S. Ct.
