Job Summary

Farmers Group (Woodland Hills, CA) seeks a Sr. Cloud Platform Engineer to work in Systems Engineering and Development, including Systems Engineering and Data Center and Network Engineering. Specific duties include: work directly with product vendors to develop detailed prototype design and implementation information and to determine future directions and availability of the technology to be researched; review cost/benefit and technical analysis on hardware and software and report to management for review; maintain the continuity of standard technology, data and system architectures between and across systems; coordinate the implementation of all architectural changes to information systems; advise on the research necessary to ensure the successful implementation and utilization of new candidate technologies required by SED projects; review package software evaluation and benchmarking; support Model Office planning activities; review and report on the impact of new systems on existing hardware and software architectures; assist in the testing and/or prototyping of candidate technologies and the integration of candidate products from multiple vendors; implement automation through application and infrastructure pipelines; serve as subject matter expert advisor to senior IT management and mentor junior level technical staff; assist project managers as well as the business facing team with project onboarding; maintain an in-depth knowledge of the organization's technologies and architectures; and handle Configuration management. Position requires AWS Certification. Option to work remotely is available.

Position requires a Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in, Computer Science, Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or closely related field of study, plus 8 years of experience in the job offered, or similar position. Must have 7 years of experience with each of the following: discussing business needs, gathering requirements, and recommending solutions; leading whiteboard discussions; and presenting complex technological concepts clearly and concisely to technical and non-technical audiences. Additionally, specific experience must include working with each of the following: technology systems and designing solution; enterprise infrastructure, automation and orchestration, continuous integration/deployment, and cloud-based delivery models; Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including agile and waterfall methodologies; Cyber Security requirements and demands as they relate to infrastructure provisioning and operations; technology capacity and performance sizing; AWS and Azure Services; git version control, git branching, and CI/CD practice; scripting languages; Lambda infrastructure automation; AWS security tools and applications; Platform design, implementation and operations in Cloud IaaS and PaaS environments; and Hosting and Storage infrastructure. Must be AWS certified. Option to work remotely is available.
