Cogent Strategies, a boutique, bi-partisan strategic communications, digital advocacy and government relations firm is seeking to hire a client-facing vice president who expresses a strong interest in supporting the firm s collaborative team and its diverse client roster to achieve winning results and grow the business. The ideal candidate must have experience in writing and media and possess a sense of humor, entrepreneurial spirit and attention to detail.
Qualifications for the position are as follows:
- Capacity to develop and execute campaigns on behalf of clients including messaging and collateral development, advertising/paid media and social media, and media outreach. Understanding of client s business and competitive landscape.
- Excels at strategic and persuasive writing; capable of developing creative written and visual content. Demonstrates writing excellence when crafting strategic work plans and business development proposals.
- Experience in writing press releases, speeches, newsletters, op-eds and social media posts.
- Ability to create opportunities to position issues leveraging the full spectrum of communications and engagement channels and tactics.
- Possesses strong and numerous contacts with journalists, media and news organizations.
- Ability to lead strategy, planning, coordination and management of events including vendor management, budget management and onsite execution and support.
- Experience in driving conversation and engagement across all social channels.
- Works well in a collaborative team environment.
- Capability to keep lines of communication open regarding all client projects (proactively report out on current projects without being asked about status).
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor s degree
- 5+ years of working experience in PR agencies, Congress, executive branch and/or politics
- Deadline-driven, detail-oriented, and resourceful
- Strong writing and client management skills
- Sense of humor, entrepreneurial spirit and attention to detail
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
- Prior firm/agency, Hill or campaign experience
- Degree in marketing, communications, political science or related field
