Staff Nurse (RN) - Medical Programs

A Long Island-based nonprofit organization is looking to boost their staff at one of their group homes in Suffolk County with the addition of a new, licensed Registered Nurse (RN).

About the Opportunity:

  • Assignment Length: Ongoing
  • Shift: 7-3 pm and 3-11 pm
  • Schedule: Saturday and Sunday
  • Setting: Group Home
  • Patient Population: Medically underserved

Responsibilities:

The Registered Nurse (RN) will:

  • Assess medication records monthly to ensure consumers are receiving prescribed medication and that documentation of it is occurring in a timely manner
  • Assist consumers in achieving self-medication administration as indicated
  • 24-hour emergency on-call coverage for assigned programs, as required
  • Assist and participate in the admission screening process, as necessary
  • Ensure that consumers are living in a safe and hygienic manner; provide resources for infection control
  • Develop and provide in-services for staff, as needed
  • Ensure that appropriate amounts of medication and supplies are available
  • Dispense medications and provide hands-on medical treatment, as needed
  • Coordinate and arrange admission and discharge and staff coverage along with the Residential Manager
  • Review doctor visits and doctor's orders in a timely manner
  • Complete and send in weekly reports, as required
  • Perform other duties, as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • NYS Registered Nurse (RN) license

Desired Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Experience working with the Disabled population
