Senior Software Engineering Manager


Job Details

The Senior Manager, Software Engineering will be responsible for overseeing the development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of software applications for Medical Education using a variety of technologies. Key responsibilities include facilitating communication among developers and other leaders, fostering leadership and mentorship both within the team and among peers, removing impediments, as well as providing feedback and encouraging skill development with teams and peers. This position will partner with other leaders and functional areas in the organization to coordinate, set priorities and optimize processes. (Hybrid schedule, onsite 1 day per month expectations around the Green, OH area)


Key Functions

Understand business objectives and ensure the team's alignment with these goals while guiding the Software Engineering teams.

Promote a DevOps mindset and foster a culture of collaboration and agility.

Ensure teams operate effectively to maximize value and minimize frustration.

Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure reliable and predictable delivery of value.

Handle day-to-day management responsibilities for your teams.

Assist with the preparation and execution of planning iterations.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with business and technical staff in both on-site and virtual environments.


Qualifications

A degree is helpful. We don t actually care about the degree. We do care that you re smart, well educated, and have a proven track record.

5+ years of software development experience

4+ years of software development management experience

Experience with modern object-oriented programming languages (C#.NET or Java preferred)

Solid understanding of infrastructure, operations, and systems architecture

Strong experience with agile principles and methodologies

Excellent problem-solving skills to facilitate team efforts during incidents

Experience with change management and incident management

Ability to interact and communicate effectively with leadership and customer


What will really get our attention

Experience in healthcare, education, or both

Experience with SaaS products

Experience with computational intelligence, natural language processing, operations research (optimization, e.g. MIP, LP, etc), or data science.
