Primary Care Patient Scheduling Supervisor

Position Summary:

This position is a highly visible and critical position to the success of primary care. This position is responsible for supervision of primary care patient scheduling staff and works closely with Primary Care Management Team in the coordination of clinic/ patient flow. The Primary Care Patient Scheduling Supervisor will provide accurate patient demand count to assist Primary Care Leadership in appropriate planning for staffing to meet patient needs.

Position Responsibilities:

Meets regularly with Primary Care Leadership in defining goals, fiscal management, staff training, and general management of the clinics.

Interviews, hires, and orients new scheduling staff as needed to maintain adequate scheduling staff for the clinics.

Supervises patient schedulers and other staff as directed by YKHC Primary Care Administrator.

Monitors and approves time in Kronos system to assure correct hours for payment of staff.

Assists with the empanelment of patients.

Assists with publishing the monthly provider schedule in the scheduling application book.

Assigns daily responsibilities for scheduling staff as needed.

Other duties as assigned by YKHC Primary Care Administrator.

Position Qualifications:

Minimum Education: High School diploma or equivalent. Associate Degree in Health Care related field preferred.

Minimum Experience: 2 years progressive supervisory experience. Health care experience preferred. Excel and Microsoft Office proficiency necessary

License, Certification, Registration, Alaska Drivers License

Equipment/Tools: Computers, Multiline telephone system, Copier, fax machine, shredder

Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision with supervisory skills. Accuracy and dependability a must. Work done in this department directly impacts operations throughout YKHC and the hospital. Interpersonal and communication skill required interacting with medical personnel on a routine basis. Knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Office. Ability to speak Yup'ik helpful.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Schedulers, and other support staff as assigned.
