Supervisor: Medical Director/Practice Administrator
Primary Function: The Physician/Medical Director is responsible for providing direct patient care, including evaluation, treatment, and patient education. Additionally, they will coordinate patients' healthcare needs.
Minimum Requirements:
- Board-certified or Board Eligible in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, or Emergency Medicine.
- Current licenses (Maryland/Virginia, CDS, DEA).
- Up-to-date with Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements.
- Minimum of one-year experience, preferably in an urgent care facility or primary care physician s office.
- Understanding of CPT codes and ICD coding.
- Familiarity with OSHA and HIPAA regulations.
- Certification in ACLS.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Customer service-oriented attitude.
Supervision Received: The Physician/Medical Director will exercise independent decision-making regarding patient care, guided by professional training, experience, and Medical Access and Medical Director guidelines.
Supervision Exercised: While not directly supervising staff, the Physician/Medical Director will have indirect authority over clinical staff through treatment orders.
Scope:
- Conduct examinations and treatment for patients, adhering to urgent care and primary care practice standards.
- Report to the Medical Director.
Safety Responsibility:
- Adhere to universal precautions and safety practices.
- Perform light work, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally.
- Participate in hazard identification and adhere to safety procedures.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
- Possess knowledge of clinical interventions and equipment.
Essential Functions:
- Evaluate and treat patients.
- Order diagnostic tests.
- Document patient information accurately.
- Provide patient education.
- Make referrals for specialty care.
- Operate AED equipment.
- Perform initial reads on X-rays.
- Follow-up with patients on abnormal results.
- Complete required paperwork.
- Suture patients as needed.
- Administer prescriptions appropriately.
- Stay updated on medical developments.
- Coordinate with companies on worker injury cases.
- Assist with medical practice marketing.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Attend scheduled meetings.
- Perform other assigned duties.
