Electrical Controls Engineer


IAC is a 32-year-old EPC Contractor, Capital Equipment supplier, and OEM, and Parts and Service supplier located in Overland Park, Kansas. As an EPC / Turnkey Industrial Contractor, IAC, in conjunction with our wholly own construction company, Adelphi Construction perform $10 million up to $150 million projects within North America, Latin America, and Mexico. Including the complete electrical design of electrical systems, electrical installation design, and control system design.


The Electrical Controls Engineer works across functional groups directly involved in electrical estimating, engineering, commissioning, project documentation and follow-up.


Primary Responsibilities


  • Develop electrical schematic drawings & PLC control programs.
  • AutoCad Electrical or EPLAN experience required.
  • Help define engineering needs and priorities.
  • Proposes solutions for electrical challenges faced at the job site.
  • Communicates the progress, potential challenges, and schedule for the electrical design.
  • Verify work quality, integrity, and conformity.
  • Help propose solutions to problems.


Requirements

Must Have PLC and HMI background and be able to work in the Kansas City area (non-remote)

5 years of experience working in industrial process design, electrical, or commissioning company.

Able to troubleshoot and/or calibrate electrical devices such as motor starters, soft starters, VFD s, PLC,s, level switches, belt scales, radar level sensors, zero-speed switches, etc.

Bachelors of Science degree in Engineering, Instrumentation, Automation, or Electrical Technology.


Travel, be on site (travel requirement up to 30%).

General mechanical knowledge.

Knowledge of National Electric Code (NFPA Articles 70, 70E, 79).

Experience in electrical design projects & coordination with other engineering disciplines.

Experience in low & medium voltage power distribution, equipment/protective device sizing.

Experience in single line diagrams, area classifications, power & control schematics

, Experienced in wiring design, lighting and grounding design, & electrical installation details.

Engineering specifications with motors, transformers, MCC s, VFD s, & UPS systems.

Experience with MS Office Suite products: (Xcel, Word, CAD, Etc.).

Experience with Rockwell Automation & Siemens is a plus.

Experience with power systems studies.

Highly organized, self-motivated, & able to handle multiple project tasks.

Presentation, written, time management & organizational skills required.

Verbal, written, technical, conceptual, & organizational skills.

Ability to work under the pressure of deadlines, be self-directed, exhibit good business judgment, & ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
