Responsibilities:
As a Detailing Manager, you will supervise and provide leadership, management oversight, and technical assistance to the Structural Steel Detailers. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Inspecting drawings for accuracy, completeness, and conformance to drafting practices and company standards.
- Performing detailed dimensional and bill of material checks, and basic and complex layouts.
- Inspecting for interferences and constructability, providing detailing solutions as required throughout fabrication and installations.
- Maintaining records of changes for submitting change orders.
- Developing RFI's as required and assisting with shop and field-related questions.
- Using and understanding basic 3D modeling operations and detail processes.
- Planning and calculating lengths and dimensions of various steel elements according to construction tolerances.
- Ensuring thorough checking of details created by detailers against contract documents.
Requirements:
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural building plans.
- Distinguish between basic construction trade drawings.
- Understand basic plan/section nomenclature.
- Coordinate gathering of information between various trade drawings.
- Knowledge of building models using Tekla Structures.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in structural steel detailing and 5+ years of quality checking.
- Knowledge of steel fabrication, steel erection, and miscellaneous steel is preferred.
- Ability to navigate Tekla, AutoCAD, and SDS is preferred.
- Understanding of design, build, and fabrication processes.
- Knowledge of AISC, AWS, ASME, and other building codes is required.
