Director, Wind Project Development: Environmental Management.

Location: Colorado, WECC


This position reports to the Senior Vice President of Development and is considered a leadership role within our organization. The Director will collaborate with various dedicated departments supporting project development efforts, including Real Estate, Legal, Interconnection, Finance Modeling, Off-Take/Origination, M&A Evaluation, Greenfield Efforts, Accounting, Resource Assessment, and Engineering.


6+ years of experience in onshore wind development, encompassing the entire development cycle from project inception to full construction Notice to Proceed. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of team management, project management, and previous environmental management and review work.


Role:

  • Advance a full portfolio of utility-scale Wind Development projects concurrently.
  • Lead Wind projects across all development phases, from early to late-stage.
  • Manage and maintain development budgets and task schedules for the entire Wind development portfolio.
  • Supervise a team of Senior and Junior-level Project Developers assigned to Wind projects within the portfolio (4 direct reports).
  • Drive project progress by providing direction to Project Developer positions and overseeing external contractor deliverables.
  • Identify, evaluate, and assess the viability of new project opportunities.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Business Development team on off-take/PPA efforts.
  • Participate actively in M&A negotiations, diligence, and project investment activities.
  • Present project plans and progress updates to the management team and project partners.
  • Report project milestones and progress towards quarterly/annual KPIS


Ideal Requirements

  • Demonstrated expertise in team management and utility-scale wind project execution.
  • Proficiency in project management tools such as Smartsheet (preferred) or Microsoft Projects.
  • Proficient in the full Microsoft suite and functional competency in Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
  • Previous environmental management and review work.
  • Experience with multiple agency direct permitting oversight (federal, state, local).
  • Experience or exposure to ISO direct queue processes, preferably with multiple ISO s: SPP/WECC/MISO/CAISO.
  • Familiarity with NEPA as lead developer, preferably with multiple lead agencies.
  • Oversight of environmental studies and consensus review.
  • Exposure to or experience with FAA filing processes.
  • Experience or exposure to supporting off-take RFP s.
  • Exposure to transmission/interconnection/queue processes and applications.
  • FAA/DoD/MRT process experience.
  • Focus on NYISO permitting or transmission experience would be highly desirable
  • Wind development experience up to COD.
