Part-Time Science Teacher for Grades 8-10 (24-25 School Year CTA Main Campus)

The Columbus Torah Academy in Columbus, Ohio (www.torahacademy.org), is looking for a dynamic individual to teach Science part-time in the Upper School on the main campus, beginning in the 2024-25 academic year. Classes would include Science 8 (8th Grade), Biology (9th Grade), and Chemistry (10th grade). Working hours would be from 12:30-4:00 on Monday-Thursday and 11:00-1:30 on Fridays, including three teaching periods and an hour planning time per day.


Columbus Torah Academy, an independent K-12 Jewish day school accredited by ISACS, is located on the east side of Columbus on a private campus. Columbus Torah Academy is an independent college preparatory school with approximately 210 students total, with 80 in the Upper School (grades 7-12). The candidate should be passionate about the teaching of science and be committed to the values of growth, excellence, and creativity. Our classes are small, and our teachers enjoy getting to know their students well.

100% of our graduates attend college, (either 2-year or 4-year) and the vast majority of students come from families with college-educated parents. Approximately 40% of our student body qualifies for free or reduced fee lunch.

Position Expectations:

The individual selected to this position will be expected to carry out the following responsibilities:

  • Teach Chemistry (10th grade), Biology (9th grade), and Science 8 (8th grade)
  • Assume a share of responsibilities expected of all upper school faculty members
  • Collaborate with departmental colleagues on curriculum design and development
  • Provide periodic updates to parents about student progress, via both written reports and in-person conferences
  • Incorporate technological resources effectively using computers
  • Hold students accountable for the school s standards of behavior
  • Work with other members in the school community to support each student s emotional well-being


Qualifications:

  • College degree (BS or BA) required in a related field
  • Post graduate experience in Science field preferred but not required
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, proficiency with technology, a commitment to personal growth, a spirit of collaboration and flexibility
