LOCATION: Medley, Florida


THE ROLE

The EHS Specialist will be primarily responsible for verifying the firm complies with its health and safety plan; preparing site-specific health and safety plans, conducting regular site visits to confirm that the plan is being implemented, and making recommendations to management on plan improvements as field conditions change. The EHS Specialist will facilitate safety and environmental reviews and work with management and staff to improve company programs and policies.


Essential functions include:

  • Leading and facilitating safety program activities by training and developing all team members and helping to create and sustain a robust safety culture.
  • Guiding and promoting safe work performance through development, implementation, and enforcement of safety management systems, programs, policies, and procedures in accordance with OSHA and CEI requirements.
  • Conducting on-site safety and environmental reviews to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and work with site personnel to improve programs.
  • Performing accident/incident investigations and planning corrective action.
  • Organizing, maintaining, and ensuring all environmental and safety compliance records are organized and maintained in accordance with corporate specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Developing and overseeing any and all activities which involve or require Environmental, or Safety, and Industrial Hygiene procedures, programs, permits, licenses, and approvals.
  • Providing safety and health technical support to project teams.
  • Maintaining a visible field presence on assigned projects.
  • Participating with the project team in safety-related planning and problem-solving.
  • Participating and leading, where appropriate, monthly CEI Corporate Safety Committee meetings as required.
  • Identifying, anticipating, and taking action to address Environmental, Health, and Safety concerns, hazards, exposures, and unsafe practices.


THE CANDIDATE

To be considered for this position the candidate must have:

  • Bachelor s Degree or higher, preferably in a safety-related field
  • A minimum of 5 years in the construction industry applying Environmental, Health, and Safety programs and systems in accordance with OSHA, federal, state, and local regulations
  • OSHA 500, or the ability to become certified
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) credential, or the ability to become certified
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid Driver s License with a good driving record
  • Competence in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to successfully interact with all employees and management
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) desired
  • Ability to travel to different job sites as needed (travel 25-50%)

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Exposure to all weather conditions such as hot, humid, rainy, and/or snowy winter, fall, summer, and spring weather combined with regular work time indoors in environmentally-controlled conditions.
  • Regularly exposed to powered industrial vehicles
  • Will be required to wear common Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as steel toe boots, safety vest, hard hat, etc.
  • May at times be required to lift items weighing no more than 50 pounds
  • While performing job duties may be required to sit, stand, or walk around for extended periods of time.
