Role Description:

We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and discreet Senior Background Check Specialist to join our team. As a crucial member of our HR Services team this role is responsible for conducting comprehensive background checks on potential hires to ensure the company maintains a secure and reputable workforce.

The ideal candidate will have experience in conducting background checks, with a focus on maintaining high-quality standards and delivering results in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough background checks on job applicants, focusing on employment history, criminal records, education, social media profiles and drug tests.
  • Utilize various databases and resources to gather accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Establish rapport with colleagues and external contacts, particularly when verifying information with past employers or educational institutions.
  • Efficiently manage time and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Analyze findings and identify additional records or information needs as necessary.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for conveying findings clearly in reports
  • Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to ensure adherence to relevant regulations and company policies.
  • Willingness to stay informed about changes in legislation, industry trends and emerging technologies relevant to background check screening.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with the utmost discretion.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in Human Resources, Criminal Justice or a related field from an accredited, not-for-profit University or College required.
  • A track record of commitment to prior employers.
  • 5+ years of experience in conducting corporate background checks, preferably in a large corporate setting.
  • Experience with background screening tools, databases, and technology platforms used in the industry.
  • Experience with relevant federal, state, and local regulations governing background checks.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • High ethical standards and a commitment to conducting background checks with honesty and integrity.
  • Proficiency in using background screening tools and databases.
