Role Description:
We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and discreet Senior Background Check Specialist to join our team. As a crucial member of our HR Services team this role is responsible for conducting comprehensive background checks on potential hires to ensure the company maintains a secure and reputable workforce.
The ideal candidate will have experience in conducting background checks, with a focus on maintaining high-quality standards and delivering results in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
- Perform thorough background checks on job applicants, focusing on employment history, criminal records, education, social media profiles and drug tests.
- Utilize various databases and resources to gather accurate and up-to-date information.
- Establish rapport with colleagues and external contacts, particularly when verifying information with past employers or educational institutions.
- Efficiently manage time and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Analyze findings and identify additional records or information needs as necessary.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for conveying findings clearly in reports
- Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to ensure adherence to relevant regulations and company policies.
- Willingness to stay informed about changes in legislation, industry trends and emerging technologies relevant to background check screening.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with the utmost discretion.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor s degree in Human Resources, Criminal Justice or a related field from an accredited, not-for-profit University or College required.
- A track record of commitment to prior employers.
- 5+ years of experience in conducting corporate background checks, preferably in a large corporate setting.
- Experience with background screening tools, databases, and technology platforms used in the industry.
- Experience with relevant federal, state, and local regulations governing background checks.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and draw meaningful conclusions.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- High ethical standards and a commitment to conducting background checks with honesty and integrity.
- Proficiency in using background screening tools and databases.
