About the Director of Operations Role

The Director of Operations serves as second-in-command at Laureate, and is responsible for owning and driving the overall operations function. They will set and achieve their ambitious vision with a high degree of autonomy, and pursue it by any means necessary. This is a highly visible member of the school community that is excited to actively participate in school and community events. Time will be spent in the following ways:

Team Management & School Leadership

  • Manages each member of the operations team, including but not limited to: Dean of Operations, Facilities Manager, Secretary, and Data Manager
  • Responsible for building their professional capacity through coaching and their level of performance through management
  • Works closely with the Head of School and the Laureate Board to make high-level decisions, including:
  • The development and implementation of the strategic plan, including the Title 1 School Improvement Plan and all other grants
  • Creation and approval of the annual budget
  • Creation and dissemination of the annual report
  • Actively manages campus-based problems in order to protect the instructional leadership team s time


School Management (Human Resources & Finance)

  • Manages all HR systems and policies, including recruitment and hiring, personnel records, PTO, payroll & benefits
  • Ensures that personnel policies are followed and staff issues are promptly addressed.
  • Manages relationship with the school s back office provider.
  • Responsible for annual budget submission, financial report, audit, and tax filing, including being accountable for all financial metrics and purchasing.


Compliance, Regulations, and Reporting

  • Ensures overall compliance, including but not limited to health and safety laws, charter contracts, state education mandates, teacher certification, ESSA requirements, and all federal and state workplace regulations.
  • Completes school-based sections of all government and authorizer grant proposals and reports.
  • Serve as the point of contact for communication between the district charter office and the school, and ensure all action items are completed.
  • Works with the School Leader to prepare for charter school site visits, renewal visits, and monitoring visits.
  • Ensures special education administrative needs are being met in conjunction with the Director of Special Education


Student Information & Data

  • Manages the overall student information systems, including standardized testing coordination and providing interim test data analysis.
  • Ensures school accountability data is being kept, revised, and recorded regularly and accurately, including but not limited to student records, attendance and student transfer data
  • Oversees creation and distribution of progress reports and report cards.
  • Trains and ensures staff to follow all applicable laws and policies, including FERPA and HIPPA.


Building & Facility Operations (Technology, Food Service, Maintenance)

  • Ensures the school and school building meet all compliance standards and is prepared for audit.
  • Coordinates fire, evacuation, and crisis drills.
  • Manages external vendors, including but not limited to nursing, security, custodial, food service, transportation, and landscaping.
  • Serves as the state-required School Nutrition Supervisor and ensures food service is reliable, healthy, and efficient.
  • Serves as state-required Transportation Supervisor and ensures transportation is safe, reliable, and as accessible as possible.
  • Manages and oversees the school's physical condition, ensuring minor repairs are done quickly and prioritizing major repairs, based on budget and need.
  • Ensures a fully functioning technology infrastructure, including overseeing the purchase and maintenance of technology equipment, supporting the implementation of technology training and managing the technology vendor relationships


External Engagement (Families, Communities, & Funders)

  • Ensures student recruitment and enrollment is executed with a high degree of excellence
  • Ensures regular correspondence with families regarding school policies, trips, events, and milestones.
  • Meets with families directly to address concerns and resolve problems.
  • Manages relationships with funders and provides grant reporting.
  • Identifies and applies for additional funding sources.


Qualifications

  • Possession of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution, required.
  • Minimum of 4 years operations experience, required; K-12 campus-based operations experience, highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of management experience, required.
  • General knowledge of accounting procedures and practices, strongly preferred.
  • High proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook, required.

Role Details

  • This role directly reports to the Head of School. This person will work closely with the Deans of Instruction for K-2 and 3rd-8th Math, and the Dean of Culture.
  • Ideal start is June 1, 2024. The position will remain open until filled.
  • Compensation for this role is likely between $90-100k.
