HIRING SALARY: $42,000.00- $45,000.00 annually; all salary calculations to start at the minimum salary

HOURS: 8:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M., Monday - Friday, may include weekends

MAJOR FUNCTION: The Maintenance Tech II position is located on the Florida Public Safety Institute in Quincy, FL., and will report to the Maintenance Supervisor. The Maintenance Technician II primary function is to perform maintenance and preventative maintenance on buildings and equipment including electrical, plumbing, sheetrock, masonry and related components. Operates, maintains, and repairs HVAC systems and components including building automation systems. Assists in performing door and lock installation and repairs, including automatic openers and closers. Moves equipment and furniture. Operates, maintains, and repairs vehicles including tractors, fork lifts, boom fits, loaders, large trucks, and motorized carts. Maintains and repairs all small equipment used in maintenance area. Must be able to operate a computer and input data. Will be on-call as needed and perform other duties as assigned.

Primary duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs preventive maintenance on buildings and equipment.
  • Operates, maintains, and repairs HVAC systems and components including building automation systems.
  • Repairs, maintains, and installs electrical systems and components.
  • Performs any carpentry/masonry related duty to make any necessary repairs or modifications as needed.
  • Operates computer and inputs data for preventive maintenance program.


MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from a standard high school or equivalency diploma, and four years of experience in at least two of the following areas: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, electronics, and carpentry/masonry.

SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS WILL DEMONSTRATE THE FOLLOWING: Ability to work safely and proficiently in the areas of electrical, plumbing, carpentry/masonry, HVAC, and electronics. Ability to follow written and oral instructions as directed. Ability to work independently and make independent judgments. Ability to walk, bend, stoop, climb ladders, stand for long periods of time, work outdoors in all types of weather and temperatures. Ability to lift and carry 75 pounds or more. Ability to drive, maintain, and repair vehicles, tractors, trucks, and equipment. Ability to use a two-way communication radio. Ability to serve in an on-call status on a rotating basis.
