Payroll and Benefits Specialist

A local client of CFS, located right here in Raleigh is seeking a Payroll and Benefits Specialist to support its growth
Reporting to a Senior Specialist, the role involves payroll processing, benefits administration, and regulatory compliance
The ideal candidate should be adaptable, solution-oriented, and committed to employee support.

Skills:
- Experience in HR role, dealing with benefits/payroll
1-2 years of experience is ideal
- Essential to have strong grasp of principles, laws and procedures of benefits and payroll
- Payroll/benefits software experience-preferably ADP WorkForce Now
- Background in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting
- Skilled with Excel and Outlook
- Multi-State payroll experience
- Great planning and organizational acumen/ability to multi-task and balance multiple projects at once

Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with federal, state and local employment laws
- Administer leave of absence programs and disability claims
- Manage approval of timesheets and payroll changes; raises, bonuses, terminations
- Process bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll accurately and on time for both salaried and hourly employees
- Oversee compliance; COBRA, ERISA, ACA and others
- Handle wage garnishments, tax filings, and state registrations
- Support employee benefit management and set up of new hires
- Address employee inquiries on payroll and benefits
- Provide backup for pre-hire screening and orientation tasks
- Assist HSE team with new hire entry and admin duties
