We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Carpenter to join our Heavy Highway Division. As a vital member of our team, you will play a crucial role in constructing and maintaining structures integral to our highway and infrastructure projects.

Your Role: Enhancing Construction Operations

As a Carpenter in the Heavy Highway Branch at Emery Sapp & Sons, your primary responsibility will be performing carpentry work related to the construction, repair, and maintenance of highway structures and infrastructure. Your role will significantly contribute to the success of our projects by ensuring the structural integrity and safety of various highway components. Additionally, your dedication to quality craftsmanship, adherence to safety protocols, and collaboration with project teams are essential for project success.

Responsibilities

Carpentry Work: Perform a variety of carpentry tasks, including formwork construction, bridge deck repairs, guardrail installation, and other structural components related to highway construction and maintenance projects.

Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety regulations and guidelines, including proper handling of tools and equipment, utilization of personal protective equipment, and implementation of fall protection measures.

Collaboration: Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and fellow construction crew members to ensure efficient project execution, coordinating carpentry tasks with other trades as necessary.

Quality Assurance: Ensure the quality of carpentry work by following established procedures and standards, conducting inspections, and addressing any issues or deficiencies promptly.

Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and care for carpentry tools and equipment, performing regular inspections and repairs as needed to ensure safe and efficient operation.

Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and any incidents or observations related to job site activities, adhering to company protocols and regulatory requirements.

Other Duties: Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic construction environment.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Carpenter, preferably in heavy highway construction or related field.
  • Proficiency in various carpentry techniques, including formwork, concrete work, and structural repairs.
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications. Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations related to carpentry work on construction sites.
  • Ability to operate carpentry tools and equipment safely and effectively. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record is preferred.
