Government Affairs Manager


Job Details

National Taxpayers Union is seeking a Policy and Government Affairs Manager to join our team representing taxpayers interests on Capitol Hill and beyond. Though this individual may work on a variety of subjects, the primary issue areas will likely include taxation, IRS oversight, financial services, and energy/environment. Job duties will include analyzing federal policy; writing letters, op-eds, and issue briefs; and meeting with legislators, taxpayer groups, and other organizations to advocate on behalf of taxpayers. Limited work on state and local policy is also possible. This position is based in Washington, DC.


The ideal candidate will have three to five years of relevant experience on Capitol Hill, in a government agency, or at a think tank or advocacy organization. The expected salary range is $70,000 to $90,000. The following skills and qualities are necessary to be successful in this position:

  • Passionate about advocating for lower taxes, less spending, and free markets
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills to be able to effectively convey NTU s message
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to travel as necessary
