With CCTV cameras, pre-built vehicles, and software for pipeline inspection and rehabilitation, we improve the safety and reliability of our water infrastructure systems.

How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Field Service Technician for our Pipeline Inspection business, you will perform various functions including field service, troubleshooting and training of pipeline assessment equipment used by PIPC. Tasks may also include equipment maintenance, sales support, product demonstration, show attendance, and data management.


What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

Will be responsible for supporting customers who use PIPC s equipment for the collection of underground infrastructure assessment data. Data can be collected using a variety of different sensor types including video, lidar, sonar, and gyroscopic.

Will train and advise field crews in proper application and use of the sensor technologies and related support systems.

Will support data processing by collecting data that is accurate and complete, as well as advise customers on proper collection methods.

Will maintain and repair systems when necessary and support in logistical management of those systems.

What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

Required qualifications include:

  • Must be comfortable and capable of using computer-based software and tools.
  • Must be comfortable in the use and maintenance of electro-mechanical systems.
  • Has to be willing and available to travel. Valid driver s license is required.
  • Must have good communications skills and work well within a group dynamic.
  • Will be asked to complete confined space entry and NASSCO certifications as necessary.


Not required, but a plus:

  • Experience in field collection of infrastructure asset data
  • Experience in working with sensors such as digital video, sonar, and lidar
  • Experience working with data management and related software.
  • Basic knowledge in diagnostics and repair of mechanical systems and hardware.

Education & Certifications

Two year technical degree or equivalent industry experience.

Will be asked to complete confined space entry and NASSCO certifications if necessary.

Travel & Working Environment

Days and hours vary but typically a standard 40-hour work week.

Most work is performed in a field environment.

Travel may be extensive at times with frequent overnight travel required to perform required duties.
