Inventory Control Specialist

Job Summary:

Inventory Control Specialists oversee the flow of inventory into and out of the warehouse, from ordering, storage maintenance, loading and shipment. Will oversee the safe receipt, storage, retrieval and timely dispatch of goods.

Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and maintaining records of all inventory.
  • Compiling inventory reports and issuing them to management.
  • Supporting shipping pre and loading.
  • Investigating inventory shortages and discrepancies.
  • Posting weights and shipping charges.
  • Review inventory counts and balance accuracy
  • Participate in full Physical Inventory Count, when decided by Supply Chain Director.
  • Researches any discrepancies on customer inventory reports.
  • Handles all internal inventory sample requests.
  • Supports warehouse team, when needed and approved by Inventory Control Supervisor.

Knowledge & Skills

Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
  • Forklift Certification
  • Use of pallet wrapper, pallet jack, strapping tools, scales, computer
  • Ability to work safely, accurately, and efficiently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work with and communicate with multiple departments

Education/Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2 or more years of warehouse experience
  • Preferably 1 or more years of Inventory Control Management experience

Physical Demands:
  • Regularly required to stand
  • Frequently required to walk
  • Regularly reach with hands and arms
  • Frequently required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

The physical demands identified above are representative of those that will be required to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Work Environment:
  • Fast paced environment, with 80% warehouse time, 20% computer reporting
  • Very multi-purpose job with a large amount of interaction between multiple departments
  • Regularly required to work in areas where chemical materials are encountered
  • Regularly required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment
  • May involve exposure to shop environment including variable noise levels
  • Must customarily have a high consciousness for personnel and equipment safety
