Overall Responsibility

The Purchasing Agent is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing all purchasing activities in support of the company s procurement strategies.



Role Description

  • Procures raw materials, supplies and services to support all functions of the business
  • Ensures purchasing functions are completed in accordance with established policies and procedures to maximize efficiency and minimize cost of organization's supply chain
  • Tracks and resolves purchasing related problems, errors, or discrepancies
  • Supports the Approved Supplier Program
  • Establish and maintain effective business relations with vendors and suppliers
  • Manages and monitors vendor's performance to ensure they meet company's requirements
  • Quote alternative vendors or suppliers to ensure best pricing
  • Optimizing inventory by utilizing forecasts and establishing effective reorder levels


Role Requirements

  • Bachelor s degree in related field or 3 years of equivalent combination of training, experience and education preferred
  • Experience working with suppliers and/or customers
  • High competency level in MS Office applications
  • Knowledge of purchasing and supply chain systems, including MPS and ERP systems
  • Understanding of effective purchasing policies and procedures
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Analytical skills
  • Well organized
  • Solid communication and negotiation abilities
