Job Details

NDT Level 2 Inspector

  1. Performs quality assurance audits or checks on the work of welders, fitters and pipefitters, assuring the use of correct procedures, materials, processes, and technical instructions. Conducts inspections of work areas and other general QA inspections (checkpoints).
  2. Performs non-destructive inspections on all components as required by NAVSEA specifications, blueprints and work procedure requirements to include NDT inspections for piping and structural fit-up and final weld including but not limited to 5X visual, liquid penetrant, magnetic particle and ultrasonic inspections as needed.
  3. Attends production meetings as necessary to keep up-to-date on job progress and works with shop superintendents to resolve problems and possible negative workmanship trends. Keeps NDT Examiner and Project Managers informed.
  4. Observe sub-contractor NDT inspections and reviews sub-contractor welding and NDT procedures for compliance prior to submission for MARMC
  5. Records, organizes and evaluates test results and generates NDT and QA inspection reports.
  6. Maintains equipment and assures calibration for tests to be performed.


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Schedules, calls in and conducts preliminary and final "G" point NDT checkpoints.
2. Provides training for other Quality Assurance personnel.
3. Assists NDT Level III as needed.
4. Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.


Certifiable and documented to NDT Level 2 per ASNT-T-C-1A requirements in methods VT, MT, PT. Additional requirements of T9074-AS-GIB-010/271 Rev 1 shall apply.
Weld inspection experience required, such as weld fit-up, VT of in process and completed weld joints for structural steel and piping, PT of machinery parts and piping welds, MT of machinery parts and large welded sections of plate.
Excellent report writing skills required, both digital and handwritten, drawings, etc.

Experience in Naval or Maritime shipboard inspections preferred.
Additional qualifications / NDT methods experience (specifically UT Shearwave and UT Thickness) a plus.
Positive attitude, and former experience interfacing with Government inspectors a plus.

High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Two or more years related technical experience and knowledge of ship repair procedures, and shipboard structures and systems.

Knowledge of NAVSEA Standard Items and requirements of other Ship Repair Authorities.

Strong organizational skills.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook is a must.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to interact well with others.

Must have own transportation
Must be US Citizen
Must pass drug and background screening and be eligible to obtain DBIDS military base clearance.
