Substation Design Manager

I have been engaged by global Solar EPC firm on the search for a Substation Design Manager. Ranked in the top 25 of Solar EPCs in the US, over past 10 years they have built distributed generation and utility-scale projects totaling 3GW.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee substation concept design, optimizing details with engineers.
- Assist in concept designs for feasibility and tendering.
- Identify and report root causes of design and commissioning issues.
- Stay updated on industry practices, innovate in construction methods, and troubleshoot during testing.
- Collaborate with utilities on energization documentation and assist in manual development.
- Share success stories and lessons learned for continuous improvement.
- Manage client-specific success criteria and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
- Supervise, mentor, and train team members.
- Contribute to the Project Execution Plan and fulfill other project-related duties.
Qualifications:
- Postsecondary diploma/engineering degree (PEng Preferred).
- 5-10 years of experience, ideally with 2 years in utility-scale solar construction.
- Expertise in substation design, testing, and commissioning for grid synchronization.
- Strong project management skills, understanding of contracts, and risk management.
- Commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment and willingness to travel for commissioning projects.
