Production Scheduler


Job Details

Develop a daily production schedule for all products in all production cells and assure adequate resources to meet production, inventory, and customer requirements. Will also be working with the customer base to determine priority of products and order placements within the schedule.



II. NATURE & SCOPE



This position reports directly to the Plant Manager of their facility in Holland, OH. This position is responsible for coordinating department efforts to ensure that parts are produced on schedule to be used in finished product and/or that finished products are produced so that customer ship dates are met. This process requires the planner to have knowledge of equipment capabilities and production rates.


The incumbent is responsible for using the MRP system to generate work orders for the work centers assigned. All associated documents (i.e. labels, etc.) along with the daily schedule are to be released daily to the manufacturing floor.


The Master Scheduler is to communicate shortages of materials and capacity to the appropriate personnel daily. The shortages impacting the completion of a work order that may affect our ability to meet a customer demand are communicated during a daily production meeting and/or to the Operations Team.


The Master Scheduler communicates priorities to each supervisor in a daily production meeting. The incumbent may release materials from vendors to meet the production schedule and to maintain desired stocking levels. In the case of an unforeseen demand, the incumbent may expedite the appropriate material to ensure on-time delivery to the customer. They may also communicate shortages to the Buyers in the event of purchased material shortages. This communication is essential to maintain good customer service and appropriate inventory levels.


The major challenge of this position is managing hundreds of part numbers on a daily basis to meet customer ship dates and to maintain appropriate inventory levels. Coordinating the daily schedules and communicating the priorities throughout the plant is a very important part to maintaining the plant KPIs.



III.PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES


Coordinating department efforts to ensure scheduled ship dates are met and desired inventory levels are maintained.

Daily communication and meetings with the customer base. Generating weekly reports for operations and the customer base.


Generating work orders and all other necessary materials for all assigned work centers.


Communicating priorities to each Supervisor and the Operations Team on a daily basis.


Reporting any inventory discrepancies to Purchasing/Inventory Control for root cause analysis of the problem so they can initiate corrective actions as necessary.


Support all company policies, procedures, and programs related to personnel, quality, safety, and environmental issues.


Review and investigate the daily backorder report to establish the root cause and implement corrective actions as necessary.


Communicate availability dates of products to Customer Service.


May create purchase orders to ensure the production schedules will be met and to maintain stocking levels.


May need to backfill other positions, as needed.









IV.SELECTION CRITERIA


Education: High School diploma or equivalent required, Associate s Degree preferred



Experience: Minimum 2 to 3 years experience scheduling within an automotive manufacturing environment



Communication: Good communication skills needed to receive and convey required information both inside and outside the organization.


Special Skills:

CMS/AS400 Experience Preferred

Detail Oriented

Ability to multi-task

Experience with MS Office Suite

Exceptional Knowledge of Excel

Analytical Thought Process


Dependability: Must be able to maintain satisfactory record of attendance and conduct.Must be able to work any shift and overtime, as required.
