JOB TITLE: Print Production Assistant

DEPARTMENT: Digital Imaging Center, Print Studio

STATUS: Part-time

WEEKLY SCHEDULE:

REPORT TO: Head Manager

Position Overview:
This position requires a minimum of 3 years of experience working in a fast-paced print production Macintosh environment requiring the use of computer programs, and a high level of customer interface and service.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by the lead manager.
  • Assist with the Riso workshops.
  • Ensure all jobs are delivered on time, and expedite operations that delay or alter schedules to meet unforeseen conditions. Remain in contact with students and faculty when critical issues arise or work production schedules are jeopardized.
  • Maintain an inventory of supplies and parts needed for production.
  • Complete all required paperwork, print request forms, documents, etc. to keep job ticket information complete, accurate, and current.
  • Participate in training activities or other special assignments as requested.
  • Build collaborative relationships with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Communicate to print studio supervisors daily.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • You must be able to work weekdays and weekends.
  • Working in a fast-paced production environment using Apple programs.
  • Knowledge of OSX and IOS devices.
  • Skilled in the use of desktop publishing, design layout, and form creation.
  • Intermediate experience using Adobe Master Suite.
  • Knowledge of internal workings of a printing facility and/or pressroom including pre-press work with graphic arts, direct to plate output and operation of a RIP Station, paper cutting, Epson plotters, measurements, and color systems.
  • Knowledge of calibrating all printers throughout the lab.
  • Must be self-motivated, a self-starter, and eager to learn new techniques.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of various papers and printing inks.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience working in a print environment.
  • A minimum of 3 years of Macintosh experience.
  • An art school background is recommended.
  • Team player who can also work independently.
  • Have a strong customer service mindset.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and willingness to be creative.
  • Knowledge of paper types and weights (cover stock, vellum, etc).
  • Enjoy working closely with others.
  • 3D printing is a plus.
  • Riso technology is a plus.
