Job Description:

Supervise total construction effort to ensure project is constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule. Includes interfacing with client representatives, AE representatives, other contractors, etc. The project superintendent is always a representative for Company onsite and responsible for the protection and promotion of the interests of firm.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Able to lead full General Contractor project with autonomy & initiative.
  • Takes ownership of a project and is a true representative of firm. Consistently acts with a customer service mentality/attitude
  • Capable of building, updating, enforcing a complete schedule from start to finish. Can lead a card trick effort.
  • Maintains set schedule and adjust the schedule to meet project milestones/end dates.
  • Understands, respects, and adheres to a culture of safety; completed training requirements - incl. First Aid/CPR/AED, OSHA 30-hour, Accident Analysis and maintains JSAs and weekly toolbox talks.
  • Proactively adheres to the project's quality requirements (mastered specifications, pre-construction meetings, submittal understanding, etc.) and delivers on time completion of the contracted work.
  • Takes ownership of subcontractors and adjusts management accordingly. Coordinates all trades throughout the project.
  • Understands and takes ownership of budget - provide objective feedback to PM & team prior to taking ownership.
  • Manages self-performed work (Client, productions, misc. PO, cost coding, etc.) successfully. Perform Client projects for labor required on the project.
  • Maintains positive subcontractor relationships.
  • Understands and can generate scopes (with administrative assistance from office).
  • Effectively builds & manages punch list to owner expectations.
  • Understands and manages permitting and inspection process/sequence/requirements.
  • Completes superintendent administrative requirements (Daily reports, 2-week look aheads, as-builts, etc.) in a timely, complete manner. Maintains project updates and documentation in Procore.
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervisor onsite functions (scheduling, engineering, material control, and may provide day-to-day direction of onsite administrative staff in accounting, purchasing, etc.)
  • May authorize and/or approve all project personnel transactions, purchase requisition, field design, change requests, etc.
  • Provide technical assistance, i.e., interpretations of drawings, recommending construction methods and equipment, etc. as required.
  • Coordinate and schedule material and equipment deliveries
  • Coordinate the use of company owned or rented tools and equipment. Optimize use of tools and equipment to eliminate unnecessary rental costs.
  • Coordinating with the project engineer, schedule pre-construction meetings for all major trades.
  • Track and communicate extra work order tickets and delivery tickets with Project Administrator.
  • Ensure all onsite personnel comply with project procedures, safety program requirements, work rules, etc.
  • Document all violations, notify project management, and recommend/implement corrective action as required.
  • Assume responsibility for productivity of crafts, efficient use of materials and equipment, and contractual performance of the project.

Required Skills:
  • Four-year engineering degree or equivalent combination of technical training and/or related experience.
  • Minimum of five years of construction management and/or craft supervision experience in similar facility construction.
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, methods)
  • Proficient with computer & technology skills
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and supervisory skills are essential.
  • Physically, workers must be able to: Stand or walk for long periods; use arms and hands to reach for, handle, and manipulate objects; lift and carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds; climb up and down ladders, scaffolds, and other objects and carry tools and equipment; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl, and see well (naturally or with correction)
