Job Details

As the Vice President of Sustainability for your client, you will lead a dynamic team and oversee the planning, direction, and implementation of solar energy construction projects. This pivotal role requires a commitment to safety, timely project completion, and environmentally conscious practices to enhance our competitive position and profitability.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership:
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to set organizational goals and establish project management practices aligned with the company's strategy.
  • Develop and execute cost reduction programs through optimization of people, processes, and technologies.
  • Delivery Team Management:
  • Provide strategic vision to surpass corporate delivery goals.
  • Lead, direct, and coach delivery team members and subcontractors, ensuring construction sites' effective management.
  • Plan, organize, and assign delivery team resources based on specific project requirements.
  • Project and Risk Management:
  • Take accountability for project and risk management in solar project execution.
  • Analyze budget versus actuals, delivery versus schedule, and make necessary course corrections.
  • Cooperate with other company departments to achieve corporate delivery goals.
  • Safety and Compliance:
  • Demonstrate leadership in safety, enforcing safety rules and practices, and promptly correcting unsafe conditions or behaviors.
  • Ensure adherence to corporate/project policies and procedures, recommending optimizations to the leadership team.
  • Team Leadership and Development:
  • Perform management duties, including budgeting, hiring, conducting performance reviews, and discipline.
  • Ensure the timely preparation and distribution of construction reporting requirements.
  • Operational Excellence:
  • Overcome barriers to success through permit expedition, utility relations, and contractor management.
  • Drive results by achieving on-time and on-budget delivery for all assets.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Oversee subcontractors and EPCs to ensure safe, on-time, on-budget delivery of quality assets.
  • Motivate and incentivize the delivery team based on measurable, achievable KPIs.
  • Quality Assurance:
  • Ensure first-time Witness Test success on all mechanically complete assets.
  • Reporting and Accountability:
  • Meet all reporting requirements from management and financial partners.


Education, Experience, and Certifications:

  • 4-year degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience.
  • Five (5) years of commercial solar construction experience.
  • Experience working with city/county permitting offices and inspectors.
  • NABCEP Certification (Preferred)
  • PMP (Preferred)
  • OSHA certified (Preferred)
  • Demonstrated financial skills, strategic planning, negotiation, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
