Job Overview:
As a Medical Cash Poster, you will be responsible for accurately recording and posting payments received from patients, insurance companies, and other payers. You will play a vital role in maintaining the financial health of the medical facility by ensuring that all payments are processed efficiently and in compliance with relevant regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Payment Processing:- Receive and process payments from patients, insurance companies, and other third-party payers.
- Verify the accuracy of payment information, including patient details, insurance details, and payment amounts.
Data Entry:- Enter payment details into the healthcare facility's financial system accurately and in a timely manner.
- Ensure that all necessary information is captured, such as payment method, date, and payer information.
Reconciliation:- Reconcile payments with corresponding invoices and billing statements to ensure accuracy.
- Investigate and resolve any discrepancies in payment information.
Communication:- Communicate with patients, insurance companies, and other payers to resolve payment-related issues or discrepancies.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as billing and collections, to address outstanding balances or payment concerns.
Reporting:- Generate and maintain reports on payment activities, posting accuracy, and outstanding balances.
- Provide regular updates to the finance or revenue cycle management team regarding payment status.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in accounting or finance is a plus.
- Proven experience in medical billing, cash posting, or a related financial role within a healthcare setting.
- Familiarity with medical billing software and financial systems.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
- Knowledge of healthcare billing regulations and compliance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
