Job Summary:

Responsible for the overall accuracy and efficiency of the organizations medical supply inventory and inventory systems including both perpetual and expensed based inventories. Effectively obtains the monthly departmental expired supply documentation and audits supply areas throughout the hospital. Trains staff on inventory functions within the MMIS system and educates staff hospital-wide on the proper care and maintenance of supplies. The Inventory Specialist must interact continually and effectively with all staff, responding to and anticipating their inventory needs in a timely manner.

Primary Duties:

1. Responsible for the accuracy of the inventory throughout the hospital within acceptable limits. Coordinates and schedules regular cycle counts house-wide and communicates the results to management. Coordinates with Accounting and assists departments in completing an annual physical inventory count.

2. Maintains Management Information Systems (MMIS) as it relates to the applications of par level, min-max parameters, etc. Works with IS and MMIS vendor to improve the efficiency of the system for inventory functions and reporting. Participates in testing of new functionality.

3. Performs daily review of Materials Management Inventory or other area inventories, places daily orders, and coordinates with the Purchasing and Receiving staff to ensure timely delivery of supplies to the warehouse and departments.

4. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

License, Certification, Education or Experience:

REQUIRED for the position:

* High school diploma or equivalent

* 3 years of experience in supply chain logistics with emphasis on inventory management

* Demonstrated thorough understanding of the principles of inventory control including sterility, package integrity, rotation of stock, expiration dating, and infection control techniques.

* Associates degree
