The Screen-out Element for this position is:1) Inspecting, maintaining, and repairing a variety of domestic heating equipment and systems such as hot air furnaces, oil fueled or natural gas heaters, steam boilers, and other systems and equipment with similar heat sources, controls, and circulating methods; 2) Replacing damaged parts and components on heating equipment and systems; 3) Maintaining automatic regulating of meters, indicators, controllers, gauges and recording instruments to monitor temperature, steam pressure, fuel flow, and water levels; and 4) Cutting, bending, threading pipe and fittings to repair leaks in piping systems of heating equipment.Applicants must meet the requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Job Qualification Handbook for Trades and Labor Occupations. May occasionally service equipment outdoors under adverse weather conditions. May be exposed to the potential for burns, electrical shocks, cuts, strains, bruises, and chemical irritations.
