Job Summary

Responsible for recruiting, developing and managing a team of product development engineers. Designs, implements and sustains engineering of Company's applications and services. Oversees full life cycle product development to include analysis and planning related to product development, launch and deployment. Acts as the interface to third party vendors from a business and engineering perspective with respect to requirements generation for meeting Company goals and with respect to licensable technology. Develops financial and operational objectives. Ensures operational plans are aligned with business objectives. Contributes to functional strategy development. Has a greater degree of impact on business results and typically manages one or more groups of professional employees.

About the Role:

The Senior Manager leads DNS Engineering & Operations, the team responsible for network-wide design and technical approach for Critical Network Services including DNS, NTP, etc. They serve as leadership for new product integration across Comcast's converged IP Network.

Skills & Experience We're Looking For:
  • Proven experience leading teams responsible for running large-scale, high-availability infrastructure.
  • Operational understanding of DNS, NTP, etc., including implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with Python or similar scripting/programming languages.
  • Familiarity with system automation tools, such as Puppet, SaltStack, Chef or Ansible.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a strong sense of caution.
What You'll Do:
  • Demonstrates technical leadership and mentoring of others on the application of new technologies and system development methodologies.
  • Manages department's performance, budget responsibilities, development of staff, resource planning and goal setting.
  • Develops requirements to be used by the vendor community to develop solutions to meet Company application needs.
  • Evaluates various architectural solutions and implementations.
  • Identifies trends, services and/or capabilities that may be beneficial to various product offerings.
  • Participates consultatively in the testing and certification process.
  • Keeps current with technology developments in the industry.
  • Establishes and maintains productive relationships with peer organizations and also equipment and software vendors.
  • Participates in standards bodies and industry organizations.
  • Examines new and existing projects, forecasts staffing requirements and reviews company goals to prepare a prioritized engineering plan and budget.
  • Develops processes and procedures designed to minimize the impact of system outages.
  • Becomes the catalyst for inter-departmental communications as it relates to outage management.
  • Utilizes tactical and strategic approaches to design and new product introduction.
  • Balances constraints and opportunities to drive engineering consensus for new product introduction and methodology.
  • Routinely leads matrixed teams to ensure smooth introduction of new products.
  • Assists in vendor selection process by assisting with RFP/RFI and evaluating vendor's technical solutions and architectures.
  • Works with subject matter experts who drive vendor roadmaps to ensure designs are deployable and products migrate easily to future designs.
