Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on government financial management practices, including budgeting, auditing, compliance, and reporting requirements.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of client financial systems and processes to identify areas for improvement and optimization.
  • Collaborate with clients to develop and implement tailored financial strategies and solutions that align with their organizational goals and objectives.
  • Provide guidance and support to clients in navigating complex financial challenges, such as funding constraints, regulatory changes, and economic uncertainties.
  • Analyze financial data and prepare detailed reports and presentations to communicate findings, recommendations, and insights effectively to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Offer training and mentorship to junior team members to enhance their understanding of government financial management principles and consulting best practices.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, legislative developments, and emerging technologies relevant to government finance and incorporate this knowledge into client engagements.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • CPA, CGFM (Certified Government Financial Manager), or similar professional certification preferred.
  • 3-8 years of experience working in a local government or municipality finance department preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of governmental accounting standards (GASB) and regulations.
  • Proven track record of success in providing financial consulting services to government entities.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and financial management software.
