Job Details
As the Head of Computational Biology, you will oversee a dynamic team of Computational Scientists and Engineers, steering our client's computational biology initiatives. Your role involves crafting, implementing, and maintaining clinical next-generation sequencing analysis workflows. You will collaborate closely with various teams (R&D, clinical, Software Engineering, Process Engineering, Product) to support new assay development and refine existing assays, prioritizing scalability and workflow optimization.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership: Offer strategic guidance for prenatal computational biology endeavors, ensuring alignment with company objectives and fostering collaboration across departments.
Team Management: Lead the Computational Biology team, nurturing a culture of innovation, teamwork, and professional growth. Direct project planning, resource allocation, and staff development.
Innovative Approaches: Devise and execute computational biology strategies to advance next-generation sequencing workflows, promoting innovation.
Quality Management: Establish and supervise robust quality control processes to uphold the accuracy and reliability of computational biology outcomes.
Collaborative Engagement: Work closely with wet lab personnel, clinical specialists, and R&D scientists to translate scientific breakthroughs into practical computational biology solutions for clinical diagnostics.
Effective Communication: Keep leadership, internal stakeholders, and external partners informed of project advancements and computational biology strategies.
Requirements:
PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline
Proven experience in leading and managing a team of computational biologists.
Strong project management abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills and the capacity to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Over 10 years of computational biology experience (including post-PhD years)
More than 5 years of experience in analyzing NGS data (including post-PhD years)
Over 3 years of experience in building and overseeing a team with diverse roles or functions
Proficiency in programming languages like Python, R, or similar tools
Familiarity with data structures, command-line utilities, shell scripting, and industry-standard tools (e.g., GitHub, AWS, Heroku)
