Director of Research

Job Details

A freestanding, nonprofit coordinating center for multi-center clinical trials and epidemiologic research. The Center's focus is on projects involving eye disorders or type 1 diabetes.

The Director of Research leads research endeavors, driving scientific development and mentoring study directors. They provide oversight from protocol development to study completion and may contribute directly to select projects led by other staff.

Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership and scientific direction for research activities.
• Drive scientific business development, evaluating funding opportunities and overseeing grant development.
• Supervise and mentor study directors, ensuring efficient execution of studies from protocol development to completion.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify and pursue research opportunities and partnerships.
• Oversee high-level management of multiple research projects, ensuring adherence to ethical and regulatory guidelines.
• Mentor and lead project directors and research teams, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
• Stay updated on research methodologies and contribute to long-term strategic planning

Skills and Qualifications:

• Proven leadership in building and leading high-performing research teams.
• Expertise in project management, collaboration, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent communication skills to convey complex scientific concepts effectively.
• Strategic mindset aligning research goals with business objectives.
• Ph.D. or M.D. with at least 10 years of experience in clinical research, including 5 years in a leadership position.

Salary will be commensurate with degree, and experience plus an excellent benefits package. The center supports teams and their families by providing home-centric working models for most positions.
