Job Summary:
Provides management and oversight of oncology clinical trials conducted at CalvertHealth.
Performs a variety of complex duties to support the conduct of clinical research, such as, facilitating the informed consent process, coordinating required research activities; collecting, compiling, and documenting clinical research data to ensure adherence to protocols and validation of information and documents.
Performs study specific regulatory processes in accordance with appropriate regulations, standard operating procedures and study specific protocols/plans.
Promotes the ethical conduct of research and ensures compliance with federal, state and institutional regulatory requirements.
Oversees the financial processes involved in a clinical program.
Coordinates pre-award and post-award activities to include assisting to create study budgets/Memorandum of Understanding, preparing Medicare Coverage Analysis and internal cost summaries, reconciling project budgets, facilitating sponsor invoicing, and coordinating site payments.
Education:
Position requires an ADN or Diploma of Nursing, BSN or MSN, preferred.
Registration/Certification/Licensure:
RN - Maryland State Licensure or compact state licensure
Within one year of hire, incumbent must obtain specialty training, appropriate for job position and experience, by completing either Fundamentals of Chemotherapy Immunotherapy administration or ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy certification if does not already hold an Active ONS provider card/certification. It is required to maintain ONS provider card/certification by renewal every two years.
Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years as oncology nurse or related experience
Knowledge/experience in clinical research
Knowledge of HHS and FDA human protection regulations
Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency with computer software - word processing, Excel, and database management
Other Requirements:
Maintains unit-specific and hospital competencies, mandatory learning, and any clinical certifications required in accordance with the Staff Education and Training policy GA-057 and/or any other department requirements.
Must have a current cancer specific certification by an accredited certification program or ongoing education by earning 12 Cancer related continuing education nursing contact hours each year for a total of 36 CEU's per accreditation cycle (3 years).

Performs and documents delivery of nursing care via the nursing process: assessment, problem identification, planning nursing interventions and evaluation.

Utilizes a multi-disciplinary approach to determining and executing the most effective plan of care
Performs duties according to established standards for population served.
Adheres to policies and procedures for medication administration and documentation.
Provides individualized patient/family education.
Delegates authority and responsibility effectively to provide safe patient care.
Adheres to National Patient Safety Goals.
