Our focus is on smart growth, high efficiency, and deliver trusted experience to customers and partners worldwide.The role of Principal Construction Program Manager requires a background in datacenter design, engineering, controls, and operational requirements and an emphasis on project/construction management, datacenter lease market experience, client representation and project and Project level services.The Datacenter Development (DCD) Principal Construction Program Manager is ultimately responsible for the complete project delivery for each site location. This person is responsible for ensuring that each project meets the DCD Guidelines and standards, which may be adjusted from time-to-time based on best practices and Lesson Learned drawn from previous projects as well as industry changing best practice.The candidate will coordinate with the Datacenter Engineering (DCE) team and support specialty consultants to update and provide feedback based on design (BOD). In managing the delivery of projects, this position aligns team objectives, business processes, vendor management strategies, and cross-group collaboration efforts with the Datacenter Development Project Strategy. In doing so this will result in effective client relationship management and efficiency in cost management and project delivery.This person will be an advocate for managing a safe worksite. Safety is one of the four pillars of CO+I s mission in delivering cloud capacity; joined by Quality, schedule adherence, and Cost Management. The person in this role will also collaborate with Microsoft Security, Microsoft Information Technology (MSIT), Legal, Project Engineering, Business Risk Management, and other internal groups to maintain the corporate vision and goals for the Project.This candidate works directly for the Regional Manager of Datacenter Development for the region where the datacenter development is located and supports the strategic and tactical delivery of datacenter projects in the region.In alignment with our Microsoft values, we are committed to cultivating an inclusive work environment for all employees to positively impact our culture every day.ResponsibilitiesBusiness Processes:Create and maintain best practices to identify and incorporate cost-effective solutionsManage the selection, contracting, and integration of multiple vendors and internal partnersDrive deployment of solutions that can be socialized globally across DCD projectsFacilitate decision-making to drive solutions, schedules, and manage change as requiredApply influence, strategies, and negotiation skills to identify options and recommend solutionsCommunication:Regularly reviews cost and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) metrics, invoices, process/policy communications to client partnersProvide project single point of contact for project development and deliveryCoordinate meetings and activities of vendors, cost managers, and integration of lessons learnedAttend scheduled owner/architect/contractor (OAC) and other project meetings, and report as necessaryReport project progress on scope, schedule, and budget weekly or as requiredAccountability:Responsible for developing, managing, and reporting on safety, scope, schedule, and budgetDirect fiscal responsibility for the approved project budgetWork independently in support of the DCD ProgramManagement and contract compliance:Provide team oversight and performance managementPreparation of Request for Proposal (RFP s), PER s, and other project approval tools & templatesReview and approval of vendor/contractor scope of work, and design review of site and building plansManage compliance within the team and contractors.QualificationsRequired QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND 12+ years related experienceOR equivalent experience.7+ years experience of datacenter project construction with large-scale datacenters or datacenter lease providers.5+ years experience managing large multi-faceted construction projects.Other Requirements:Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check every two years thereafter.Preferred QualificationsAbility to independently manage project schedules.Ability to independently coordinate contractors and support staff.Ability to influence cross-discipline teams.Construction Health & Safety Knowledge.Experience managing multiple large multi-faceted projectsConstruction Project Management M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $124,800 - $266,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $159,000 - $292,200 per year.Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
