AHA's Laboratory Manager is responsible for ensuring timely performance of all lab testing and for documentation of all required quality control, quality assurance, compliance, and maintenance activities. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, technically competent, possess excellent communication skills, and be excited by the prospect of learning all aspects of laboratory operations.

THE ROLE: LABORATORY MANAGER

  • Facilitating communication between lab staff and AHA Lab Management team so that all parties are informed and laboratory services are not fragmented.
  • Supervising and managing the laboratory team and maintaining appropriate staffing and coverage levels
  • Providing orientation and training for all testing personnel
  • Performing and documenting annual competency reviews for all testing personnel
  • Ensuring accurate and timely routine and STAT result reporting
  • Answering technical questions and resolving specimen integrity issues
  • Evaluating and reviewing quality control data and documentation for issues and making corrective action plans
  • Reviewing calibrations and calibration verifications for each laboratory section.
  • Ensuring that all analyzer maintenance is performed on schedule and reviewing documentation
  • Overseeing completion, submission and appropriate review of proficiency test surveys
  • Developing and administering the laboratory quality assurance program to ensure testing accuracy and consistency
  • Updating the standard operating procedures (SOP) and procedure manuals for each laboratory department with AHA Supervisors, Laboratory Managers and Laboratory Directors
  • Ensuring compliance with all CAP, CLIA, OSHA and applicable state standards
  • Leading preparation for accreditation reviews
Requirements

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, Biology or Physical Science (minimum); advanced degree such as MBA or MS preferred.
  • MT(ASCP) or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience
  • Minimum 3 year supervisory experience preferred
  • Should maintain current registration with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.
  • Experience with Beckman Coulter AU5800 and DXH900 equipment preferred.
  • Must meet all applicable required state and federal standards to perform assigned testing.

  • Have working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word
